National University’s Master of Arts in English with a Specialization in Gothic Studies offers students a unique opportunity to study the historical, theoretical and critical reception of the Gothic genre from its origins in the eighteenth century through to a range of contemporary horror works in both literature and film completely online with no residency requirements.
Students in the Specialization in Gothic Studies program take a total of 10 courses including research and methodology, literary theory, literary periods and authors and are able to study a range of Gothic topics as electives including: Dark Romanticism, American Gothic, Horror Films, Fear Films, Film Noir, Vampires, Contemporary Gothic, Gothic Prisons/Romantic Spaces, Female Gothic, Ann Radcliffe and E. A. Poe.
